Yonkers

Axis was contracted to install a rockfall protection system on a 65-foot-high cut with extremely limited access, requiring specialized rope access techniques for all phases of the project. Due to the steep terrain and lack of equipment access, our experienced rope access technicians performed all drilling, anchoring, and mesh installation while suspended from the rock face.

The project involved the installation of a high-tensile steel mesh, securely pinned to the rock face using a series of drilled and grouted anchors. Our team utilized precision drilling equipment, modified for rope access operations, to ensure proper anchor placement and long-term stability. The mesh was then tensioned and fastened to effectively contain loose debris and mitigate rockfall hazards.

Working entirely from ropes, our crew maintained strict safety protocols while executing the job efficiently and ahead of schedule. Despite the challenging conditions, Axis successfully delivered a durable, low-maintenance rockfall protection system that ensures long-term safety for the surrounding infrastructure and public.
